Character Name: Suguru Geto
Username: [personal profile] ascends
Canon: Jujutsu Kaisen
Canonpoint: Post-Prologue, aka... right after Satoru k-words him 😔
Background: Wiki
Inventory: A froggy phone charm... ribbit...
Abilities: As one of only four (4) special grade sorcerers in his time, Suguru is no joke! But let's see here...

  • Martial Arts - He's a well-rounded fighter, familiar with various weapons + hand-to-hand combat.
  • Tactical Thinker - It's genuinely difficult to catch Suguru off-guard, or to throw so much at him that he can't find some way out of it. He's just good at sizing up his opponents? Plus he knows the value in subverting expectations, ie tricking someone into thinking he's a long-distance fighter when he's quite comfortable with close combat.
  • Cursed Energy - What makes a sorcerer a Sorcerer, tbh! It's what allows Suguru to exorcise curses/fight other sorcerers, and Suguru is known to have an immense amount of it. He can also cast a curtain, which is a barrier that sort of, like, hides whatever is inside from non-sorcerers? Some can even keep other sorcerers out, but that depends on their skill level v Suguru's.
  • Cursed Spirit Manipulation - Suguru has the ability to literally ingest curses? He shrinks 'em into orbs, swallows 'em whole, and is then able to summon/direct them at will. Not going to lie, gang: it's gross, but it's also very useful; at one point he even had around four thousand or so curses at his beck and call, but since he's DIED + I'm nerfing the heck out of him, here are the curses he'll be able to summon on the train:
    • Caterpillar Cow - It's cute(-ish) and it can carry things and/or people.
    • Manta Ray - It's also cute(-ish), and can also carry things and/or people—while flying! Like a magic carpet... he will also never try to fly off the train, I swear.
    • Flyheads - They're just extremely weak curses Suguru uses as surveillance, aka if he sends them out and they die, something dangerous is afoot! I'll give him, like... I don't know... ten or so, if that's fine? They literally can't Do anything.
    • Storage Caterpillar - It's a nasty little caterpillar that a) calls Suguru "Mom" (i told u it's nasty) and b) can eat weapons, etc, then regurgitate them at Suguru's command.
    • Pelican - It's primarily used for transport? It can carry many (5 or so) people in its mouth/beak/whatever.
    • Dragon - It's big, it looks cool, it can smash into things and deal some serious damage.
    • Worm - He has so many worm-y curses, I'm crying. Anyway: This curse is also big, and it eats opponents. I guess it can actually digest unimportant things, but Suguru can also command it to just, you know. Hold them in its stomach for a while. Worm jail.

CHARACTER SURVEY

What are your character's motivations? What drives them? Who are some important people to them, if anyone?

  • Being a sorcerer means putting one's life on the line for those who a) don't even know that sorcerers/curses/etc exist and b) are the reasons curses even exist—and thus, after watching sorcerer after sorcerer die while the higher-ups simply shrugged, Suguru, uh. Snapped? As he sees it, the lives of sorcerers are worth far more than the lives of normal, everyday people; he goes so far as to call all non-sorcerers "monkeys," viewing them as an unevolved branch of the tree that deserves to be snipped right off, so! Creating a world where only sorcerers exist was his main goal, toward the end of his life... he weaponized the empathy he felt for his fellow sorcerers and used it against all the rest...
  • As for the people he views as Important: Suguru's "family" consists of sorcerers who support his cause; he definitely cares for all of them, though the two closest to him are undoubtedly the twin girls (Mimiko and Nanako) he rescued/took in when they were, like. Six or so? He raised them for ten years, so they're really his daughters...
  • Outside of his family, though: Suguru still cares for Satoru Gojo, his best friend/much better half/bitter ex?? They're messy. He really does consider Satoru to be his ~one and only~ friend/the person who understood him best—but he also knows that their clashing views/commitments ensure that they can never be what they once were.

If given the chance, what would your character change about themselves or their circumstances?

  • He'd like to regain his body, go back to his world, and come up with a new plan to kill all non-sorcerers. 😌
  • Honestly, though, Suguru wouldn't change much about himself? Before he committed to his wild and crazy villain life, he spent months pondering the costs of committing to that path—and despite all that he knew he would lose, he committed to it, anyway. He accepted that some aspects of his life would be shitty, because in his mind, he was fighting for the future generations of sorcerers; like, he can and will shoulder this burden, all to bring about a better world for the "right" people.
  • That said: Suguru knows that he miscalculated in his final fight, and that he is still not as strong as Satoru Gojo. He wants to be on that level. He needs to be on that level, because he is aware that what he hopes to accomplish is otherwise impossible. (And it's also just grating, honestly. They drifted apart because Suguru believed that Satoru outgrew him, and while that is accurate, to some degree, it's a bitter pill that's lodged itself in Suguru's throat.)
  • I also think that, on some level, Suguru knows he did done fuck up somewhere along the line? Even if he thinks that what he's doing is necessary, the way he still speaks highly/fondly of Satoru when his daughters ask him about his old friend, and the way he jokingly tells Satoru to curse him a bit at the end (i.e. before Satoru kills him)—there is no ill will there, and some part of him clearly misses the bond they once shared. There is a difference between, say, leading a group of like-minded individuals and having a true equal! He is never allowed to simply be Suguru these days, and that's tiring...

Strengths? Favorite things?

  • He's a very solid fighter, as touched on in the abilities section! Martial Arts™ is actually his only listed hobby, because he's lame like that. Other than that, he's fairly personable, he knows how to play the long game, and he's quite good manipulating others? He's only spent the last, like, ten or so years convincing the world at large that he's a totally harmless monk/cult leader. 😊 No worries here!
  • I guess I should also say that he's pretty darn smart. He's quick to pick up on concepts, clues, tells, etc... though he's likely to keep them to himself so that a) others underestimate him and b) he always has some sort of advantage. There's no I in team, but there sure is an M and an E...
  • He likes cold soba... he has a soft spot for annoying things and people, like Satoru... he's proven to be pretty good with kids??? He took in his "daughters" when he was, like, seventeen or so; he's walked the walk.

Weaknesses? Fears and phobias? Anything they regret or avoid?

  • According to the fanbook, his curse technique "stresses him out" LGMFKGH he really hates ingesting curses... like, he'll obviously do it, but they taste disgusting.
  • He genuinely doesn't want to see sorcerers die? Even the ones that choose to fight against him. They're necessary sacrifices, but Suguru wants a world in which sorcerers don't need to fight...
  • Teamwork? What's that? If you're not a sorcerer, you're a non-factor, in Suguru's mind—but we're going to work on that!
  • Somewhere deep within, there's the niggling notion that maybe he chose the wrong path? Especially now that he's Died, but he doesn't want to unpack that, really. That would mean facing/dealing with aaaaaaall of the bad things he's done, plus the knowledge that he destroyed the best parts of himself...

Where does your character fall on the moral spectrum? Are they the average, law-abiding citizen? A mischief-maker? A genocidal villain? What are some of the things they've done for or against the greater good?

  • Suguru is literally a genocidal villain LMFKDFH I'm sorry for blursing your game. But if you want his greatest hits, as examples of just how shitty he absolutely is:
    • He has no problem killing anyone who stands in his way, especially if they're normies; like, when he found a village full of non-sorcerers abusing two six-year-old sorcerers, he wiped out the village's entire population in one night.
    • When he officially committed to his path (disavowing all non-sorcerers in order to bring about a world for sorcerers), he went to his childhood home and murdered his non-sorcerer parents. In his mind, he couldn't make a special case of/for himself, so...
    • He planned to release two thousand curses on the unsuspecting public, allowing them to kill/eat as many non-sorcerers as they pleased.
    • He broke into the sorcerers' school, beat up some kids, tried to murder one of them just to steal their pet curse... 🤡 i'm so tired
  • But with all of that said! In Suguru's mind, he is only doing what is right/fair/what have you; like, he genuinely believes he is reshaping society/the world for the better, so everything he does is, in his opinion, totally justified. You can't make an omelette without cracking some eggs!
  • I hope his number is Huge, negl.
